The creation of a challenging & exciting leading new role, heading up Environment, Sustainability and Health and Safety for the European arm of this Global Manufacturing Business is now driving this brand new recruitment campaign.

The Company is a leading TPM in the Beauty and Personal Care industry and this position puts the exciting challenge of driving this area of operational strategy right to the heart of this company as it heads into a dynamic period of change and growth.

Key to the success of this position will be the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation, with direct communication to the European Group Board of Directors and to develop workforce engagement in these important areas of corporate social responsibility.

Responsibilities across a number of European sites include but aren’t limited to:

  • Interpretation of the European Environment Policy.
  • Advisory and provision of environmental management systems ,compliance, internal and external audit, analysis and reporting.
  • Carbon Disclosure.
  • Management of ISO14001EMS and accreditations.
  • Promotion and drive of sustainable projects and product material choices.
  • Developing best practice through awareness.
  • Leading a highly robust health and safety culture, instilling best practice and meeting legal requirements.
  • Management responsibility for Health and Safety Manager.
  • Implementation of the behavioural safety improvement programme and the promotion of environmental issues through training.
  • Responsible for all internal, customer and supplier audits.
  • Investigation of all complaints and ensuring remedial action as necessary.
  • Liaison with the HSE as necessary, at all levels internally, customers, suppliers, auditors and training providers.
  • KPI Reporting and Analysis.

 

Technical qualifications required for the position include:

  • Alongside a passion and appreciation for the natural environment an environmental qualification would be an advantage.
  • Lower & Upper Tier COMAH site/ATEX awareness.
  • Qualified Chemist, Chemical Engineer or similar scientific based subject.
  • Minimum (AIOSH/Tech IOSH).
  • Good understanding of IS0 14001 standards.
  • Understanding of BSI audit procedures.
  • Understanding of Environmental legislation.
  • Previous experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • French language skills would be an advantage but not essential.

On a more personal level to operate well within this environment and position you will need to be comfortable demonstrating the strength of character to influence culture, thinking and behavioural changes where needed at all levels. Whilst recognising and valuing the policies and procedures in place that are already gold standard, and drive through process improvement, working in a highly regulated industry and compliance focussed role.
